📋 Overview

Browser Launchpad is a Chrome extension that replaces your new tab page with a customizable widget dashboard. Your privacy is important to us. This policy explains what data we collect and how we use it.

💾 Data Collection

We believe in transparency about what data we collect and how we use it.

Data Stored Locally

All user data is stored locally on your device using Chrome's Storage API:

  • Widget configurations (bookmarks, notes, todos, clock settings)
  • Theme preferences and layout settings
  • API keys you provide for optional integrations

This data never leaves your device unless you explicitly enable Google Drive sync.

Optional Google Services

If you choose to connect Google services, the extension accesses:

  • Google Calendar: Read-only access to display your upcoming events
  • Google Drive: App-specific folder access to back up your bookmarks and settings

We only request the minimum permissions necessary. We do not access your files, emails, or other Google data.

Third-Party API Calls

When you use certain widgets, data is sent to third-party services:

  • Weather Widget: Your configured city name is sent to OpenWeatherMap
  • AI Chat Widget: Your messages are sent to OpenAI or Straico (based on your configuration)

These calls only occur when you actively use these features.

🚫 Data We Do NOT Collect

We are committed to protecting your privacy. We do not collect:

  • We do not collect analytics or usage data
  • We do not track your browsing history
  • We do not sell or share any data with third parties
  • We do not use data for advertising

🔒 Data Storage & Security

  • All data is stored locally in Chrome's secure storage
  • API keys are encoded before storage
  • OAuth tokens are managed by Chrome's identity API
  • Google Drive backups are stored in a private app-specific folder only you can access
